New CD "JODULATOR" - ready for pressing
After intense weeks of rehearsing, recording, mixing, mastering, after long discussions about accompanying texts and graphics layout, we're finally in the stage of handing over some files to a well known Viennese company: in about two weeks our hard work will be rewarded by a big number of beautiful little round things - our new CDs! :-)

Hotel Palindrone bei WIEN IM ROSENSTOLZ!
Endlich spielen wir wieder mal in Wien!
Und zwar am Fr 18. März im "Konzert Café Schmid Hansl", 18, Schulgasse 31. Beginn ist um 20:00 Uhr.
Das Ganze findet im Rahmen der tollen Konzertreihe "Wien im Rosenstolz" statt. Mit dabei ist an dem Abend unsere langjährige Freundin Antonia Wernig: eine erstklassige Uilleann Piperin, die in Kürze ihr Studium der irischen Musik in Limerick abschließen wird und in ihrer Neugier und musikantischen Haltung super mit uns harmoniert.

Back from award show in Plauen (Germany)
Now we hold it in our hands: the trophy "Eiserner Eversteiner", what a beautiful object, and really heavy! But fortunatelly there were four of us to lift it! The award show was great, thank you for the original comedy played by the organizers of "Folkherbst Plauen". It was fun! Thank you to the great audience, to Volker Riedel for his laudation and to the jury and the Malzhaus Plauen. Many thanks to Ian Smith for the great sound (which is part of our music!). Thank you to all our fans; without you we would not be what we are, we love you!

Winning European Award "Eiserner Eversteiner"!
We are so happy! We got it! In november we played for the european folk music award at "Folkherbst Plauen" in Germany and we got the jury award. Winner of the audience award is the group "Folk Destille Jena" (FDJ) from Germany, congratulation! We are looking forward to our concert and the award show in january 30th at Malzhaus Plauen together with FDJ!

Autumn with Hotel Palindrone - Dec 3 @ Vienna Musikverein... and more!
It's going to be a great autumn - 2 more gigs with "Hotel Haydn", our special project with pianist Marialena Fernandes, one in Styrian Kapfenberg, the other at one of the most important Austrian venues for classical music, the Wiener Musikverein!
Schüttkasten Ebenthal (Weinviertel/Lower Austria) will host another concert at the end of November, and Vienna University invites for a Erasmus-students-welcome-party - and of course, at the beginning of December there's our next ballsaal. See you!

Hot summer ... Europe is calling ... P, Ö, UK, GR, BE ...
Europa ruft diesen Sommer heftigst nach Folk- und Weltmusik aus Österreich ;-): Mitte Juli steuern HOTEL PALINDRONE das südwestlichste EU-Land an und treten zum allererstenmal in Portugal auf. Und zwar am 17. & 18. Juli 2009 beim Ollin Kan Festival bei Porto. Am 25. Juli gibt's den einzigen Zwischenstop in Österreich für das Fest zur Salzburger Festspieleröffnung, bei dem HOTEL PALINDRONE gleich 2 x zu sehen sein werden: Neben dem Konzert in Stammbesetzung im Garten von Mirabell gibt's die für Salzburg einzigartige Möglichkeit das HOTEL HAYDN-Projekt mit der Pianistin Marialena Fernandes zu hören!
Der August bringt dann ein Highlight nach dem anderen ... am 1. & 2. August beim Sidmouth-Festtival im bezaubernden S-England ... direkt weiter zu einem Vollmondkonzert mit Marialena inmitten von wertvollsten griechischen Ausgrabungen in Korinth ... und zurück in den kühleren Norden nach Belgien. Dort wird HOTEL PALINDRONE am 29. & 30. bei einem der größten und wichtigsten Tanzfestivals Europas - dem Boombalfestival - live mitdabei sein ... nähere Daten und links im Veranstaltungskalender. Und sollte das alles irgendwie zu weit sein und sich nicht ausgehen startet am 7. Oktober die neue BALLSAAL PALINDRONE-Saison im Ost … see you ;-)!

The extensive (3 pages!) article on us in the latest edition of renowned english folk/trad music magazine fRoots - #310, March 2009 - makes us very happy!
It's based on an interview John gave Elizabeth Kinder at last year's WOMAD festival, where we performed at BBC radio 3 stage.

Ballsaal - with Crucible (Sheffield / UK)
At our next Ballsaal (Thu Oct 30) at OST Klub we have the honour to welcome a phantastic band from Sheffield / England: Crucible: the quartet does not only play with extraordinary groove and smoothness, but also they are great singers!
We will play for the dance as well - of course!
Helena Davenport, the fiddle and bagpipes player of Crucible, will also lead the dance crash course, with exciting : some beautiful English Ceilidh dances will be featured as well as French dances from the Bal Folk repertoire: Bourree-variations, Saut basque and the Breton Kost ar c'Hoat.
As usual: 19:00 dance crash course, from 20:45 live bands on stage

Summer comes
The weather seems more appropriate for October - apart from this, the summer of 07 is making a real good start!
The first festival we've had the honour to be invited to was Gooikoorts (www.gooikoorts.be) in Belgium - a great festival for traditional folk music from all over Europe. It proved great! There was everything: very nice bands in the range from traditional to slighly modern (our favourite was probably Xarnege, a basque-gascoigne-collaboration, playing on saturday evening). Good sessions, excellent dancing, a nice instruments exhibition, great belgian beer and a wonderful caring festival staff...
This definitely makes Gooikoorts a recommendation for people, who are already overfed with hyped, crowded, noisy festivals (sadly, our beloved St. Chartier turned into one of these...), but still want a lot of exciting things happening. Thanks a lot for organizing this, and much success for the future! A special thanks to Walter, our friendly and generous host, and to Patrick de Loecker, for inviting us... we'd love to return some day.

back from Mexico - Ollin Kan Festival
Mexico te queremos! We had a great time, exhausting, full of impressions, colours, sounds... we learned to know a lot of great people, saw pyramids, the Zocalo and Frida Kahlo's home. Definitely memories to remain!
Thanks a lot to all - the Ollin Kan festival for inviting us, the Austrian culture forum for their support. And a special "gracias" goes to the attendants, in particular Eduardo for the wonderful and supportive way he took care of us.

Back from Switzerland
Another week... many kilometers on the road, lots of different impressions: yes, it's been great! (Sort of curious, though, that this was the first time ever we made it to our western neighbours: we'll definitely love to come back!)
Many thanks to Niki Fliri from Innsbruck, the great team of Folkclub Zürich, Tom Albatros of "Dolder 2" in Feuerthalen and Franz und Sabina at the "Pöschtli" in Aeugstertal. And, of course, to the great audiences - we've had a phantastic time and enjoyed all of the performances immensely!

HOTEL PALINDRONE at WOMEX 06 - world music expo in Sevilla
"The world is colourful, friendly and sounds absolutely fantastic!" ... that's the overall impression one gets after 5 days at this international meeting place, where every year thousands of different people engaged in the field of world music learn to know each others - a great mosaique of musicians, media, labels, organizers, promoters from all over the world. In 2006, Hotel Palindrone played in Borneo by the medium of EuRoots - negotiations for 2007 are in process ;-)
